Finding your place after another move

There are more than a million military families in the U.S., and they move every 2-3 years. That's three times more than civilian families, making them one of the most displaced segments of our population.

We know moving is already hard, and starting fresh time and time again makes each new destination hard to call home. That's why it's important to build instant connections with your neighbors the moment you arrive.

As a military spouse of 18 years, every time we move, I update my profile in Nextdoor in order to begin to understand the landscape of my new community, access resources, and see what my new neighbors are talking about! Platforms like Nextdoor provide a crucial doorway for our military families to navigate their new surroundings and begin to feel like their new neighborhood is home.
